The Weekend Break

This week has seen a great many things go down. Tuesday, especially, was a big day. Firstly, it was my mom's birthday, and we celebrated all day from breakfast on down to dinner and (yes) the debate. What can I say, she likes good food and... politics.
Speaking of, many thanks to all who have been following our “live tweet” commentary of the debates. We'll be continuing that on Monday on our Twitter account @HalfBrokenBusy, if you feel so inclined or bored. We're considering also covering election night, but more on that later because it's not why we're here anyway.
Over the years, I have posted music reviews, short stories, rants, etc. But what I enjoy most here is when I'm going through a Bible study series. Earlier this year, we went through John's gospel account, and we saw a great response. Now, continuing the theme, we are going through John's first letter to the Church. The first post went up this past Tuesday and the series will continue to unfold every Tuesday and Thursday on into the new year. Please feel free (nay, invited!) to check it out, follow along, leave comments, and spread the word.
Finally, this week, I read a marvelous (and I do not use that word often) book called Wonderstruck. It is by Mr. Brian Selznick, who is also responsible for The Invention Of Hugo Cabre, and I would recommend both of these reads to anyone who loves a good story. The man is a master of word and shade, as he pulls the reader into a brilliant world equal parts text and illustration. Within these pages, Mr. Selznick does not just give us a book, he gives us an experience.
