Antioch: Step Twenty-Seven
Scorpion War: Pt. 1

"I wonder where those two have been all night anyway,” Walden exclaimed through a mouthful of crushed grain, and all agreed between gulps. He was about to make a (laborious for him) effort at saying something positive on the matter when Orvin appeared frantically from the eastern brush. His eyes were wide with excitement and his chest rose and fell as he implored between gasps for the camp to take cover. Before anyone had time to respond, a series of tremors grew into an earthquake all around them and a massive beast came crashing into view with Haarp clinging wildly to it's head.

The Scorpion.

It thrashed about as the company scattered for weapons and hiding places. Once everyone was in place, Orvin dashed back to aid Haarp in the battle. He dodged the beast's swipe of a claw and went for the belly. There were several yeomen with them who took aim and released tides of arrows, one after another. This helped to distract the beast, but also irritated it further, and its thrashing redoubled. Its body was long and muscular, flexing beneath the thick armor that shielded all but its mouth, which bore teeth to well avoid. It stood two-to-three men overhead and stretched what seemed to be a mile long, with its great, spiked tail swaying high in the air behind its wide head. And its eyes – its eyes were two huge caldrons of boiling rage flashing this way and that, in search of anything to destroy.
