Down the sidewalk they flew, Oscar and Ares, as their priest-friend forced the door closed against approaching ghouls. They could hear him praying aloud against the coming demons, and Oscar looked back to see them actually tarry at the words. Not every soul is welcome under that roof, after all.
Now, it was just these two on the road again. They headed in the direction of their friend's lake house, which would be a trek. More of a trek than the church had been. Why this guy was on their regional team, they weren't even sure, he was so far removed geographically. But, perhaps, with his distance from the city might also come some sense of safety and calm. That would be nice, Oscar thought. He could use a break from all of this.
