Isn't it wonderful that the judgement
mentioned here is set upon the ruler of this world?
We are a fallen race, rebellious and disobedient, but this judgement
isn't for us. There is grace offered to us and, if we do not accept
it, this judgement certainly has an effect on us because it tears
down the one we've chosen over God. But for believers, the blood of
Jesus covers our sins and this judgement upon Satan is glorious news.
We have the victory in Christ, and the enemy has no power over us. He
may rule this old world (for now), but we are not his subjects and he
is on a holy leash. He has already lost, and he slinks around on his
last leg, pulling down as many souls as he can muster before his very
limited time comes to an end. And it is a profound mystery to
consider that the convicter of this judgement lives within us
believers; that he who holds the power to reign over the prince of
this world is so closely tied to our souls and our lives. And for
those in rebellion, the conviction is a terrifying reality; but for
those in Christ, it is a sweet comfort, a promise of freedom and
victory in Him.
