When Jesus was crucified, the earth trembled and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Finally, after so long and so many sacrifices, the connection between Creation and Creator was restored. Jesus is now our bridge to the Father so that the relationship may be direct and personal once again, as it had been before the fall. And with this personal relationship comes understanding through the Holy Spirit. This is one of John's favorite things to talk about – the understanding we receive by the Spirit, made possible by the Son's sacrifice for us. He suffered and died on the cross so that we could be done with sin and live in the freedom of truth. In his letter to the Colossian church, Paul refers to Jesus as “God's mystery, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and understanding.” Christ was the key to unlock it all, and so he has! Hail to the King, baby! Praise the Lord for his goodness and grace, praise him for the price he paid on our ransom, and may we live in his resurrection – o death, where is thy sting against unending life!
