A giant had dropped it from his hand as he stepped from his doorway. And what was he stepping out of his doorway to do, but to wash the huge window just above me. I knew my time to escape was now, but the morsel was so close at hand and to leave it behind was out of the question.
The blue candy rolled ever-closer as the giant cursed the day under his breath and pressed a soapy sponge SPLOTCH against the glass. I kept my eyes on both players – the candy and the soap. Timing was everything here. The first drip of water came from the sill's far corner. Only a few moments I had to either move to safety or be washed away, but the candy was so close. I could smell it and almost taste it, it was so near! And then… it stopped. The water drip, however, did not. It grew into a steady stream, and the giant yawned, but the M&M had stopped rolling. It had hit a crack in the ground and fallen on its side.
