Antioch: Step Thirty-Two
Scorpion War: Pt. 6

A twinkle came to Haarp's eye as he saw his comrades gathering to this endeavor. He raised his spear before himself and, with all deliberate speed, jabbed it into the ground. it bowed under the stress and then gave way, vaulting him high into the air. The Scorpion sliced the sky with its stinger, attempting wildly to strike Haarp in mid-flight.

Sure enough, the razor caught its mark in the leg and Haarp went tumbling toward the dirt, but the Scorpion wasn't done yet and neither was Haarp. As he fell, the stinger continued to strike close, and (half-conscious from the pain) he managed to grip its edge on the upstroke, which sent the injured warrior sailing upward again. He shifted his crippled weight and flung himself forward as he arced into a nosedive, aiming himself directly for the beast's flailing head. Haarp would reclaim his post, if it was the last living thing he did. The Scorpion, likewise, sought to end this little oaf if it was the last thing it did... which was Haarp's secret hope as well.
